Two youths were arrested by the police of Durgapur police station based on the complaint. There are several housing units under the state-owned Durgapur Steel Works in the Hostel Avenue area of Steel Township. The incident of rape took place in a three-storied residence.
Complaint A young woman of Kururia Pramod Nagar area of Durgapur Thana area was called by two young men from Trunk Road slum to a residence on Hostel Avenue. Two youths named Chotu Roy and Durgesh Yadav took her to the first floor of this three-story residence on Hostel Avenue.
It is alleged that the young woman was raped. According to police sources, the incident of rape took place on August 10. Two accused youths were arrested after filing a written complaint at Durgapur police station. The arrested were taken to Durgapur court seeking police custody.
