On Friday night, a rare and long-lasting tornado caused extensive damage across western Mississippi. The tornado claimed the lives of at least 23 people, caused severe destruction to buildings, and left thousands of homes without power.

According to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, search and rescue teams continue to work tirelessly to assist those affected by the disaster. As of Saturday morning, there are four people missing and dozens more injured.

The tornado struck Rolling Fork, located approximately one hour away from Jackson, Mississippi, around 8 p.m. local time, as reported by National Weather Service meteorologist Lance Perrilloux.
