Political Exodus: Former BRS Leaders Flock to BJP and Congress Ahead of Elections

In the aftermath of its defeat in the previous assembly election, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is witnessing a significant exodus of senior leaders. With the looming Lok Sabha polls, more than 10 prominent figures from BRS have shifted their allegiance to other parties.

Among the notable defections to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is former BRS minister Eatala Rajender, who joined the BJP in June 2021 after being expelled from BRS. While Rajender had already been affiliated with the BJP for some time, several other BRS leaders swiftly made the transition and were promptly nominated as BJP candidates.

Instances of rapid defection and nomination include the sitting MP from Zaheerabad, who resigned from BRS and immediately became the BJP's candidate. Similarly, Bharat, son of BRS MP Ramulu, was swiftly fielded by the BJP from Nagarkurnool following his family's switch in allegiance. Aroori Ramesh was also promptly named as the BJP candidate for Warangal.

Meanwhile, the Congress has also been capitalizing on the exodus from BRS by welcoming several of its former leaders into its fold. Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy, who previously won under the BRS banner, is now representing the Congress from the same constituency.

As the political landscape in Telangana continues to evolve, these defections and realignments underscore the intense competition and strategic maneuvering ahead of the upcoming elections.
