He started his solo cycle journey from the Kerala capital to London on Monday as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav" celebrations to mark the country's 75th anniversary of independence from the British. Education Minister V Sivankutty was present to bid him farewell. The journey will take around 450 days. Faiz will reach London after traveling 35000 km across 35 countries.
After reaching Mumbai by bicycle, Ali will board a flight to Oman. And from there he will continue his journey and travel to different countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran and Turkey.
He will also pedal through European countries including Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Germany and France before reaching London, the 34-year-old quit his job at IT major Wipro years ago to embark on the cycle expedition. His first solo trip from his native Kozhikode was to Singapore in 2019. A UAE-based travel and luggage accessories company is sponsoring the bicycle during the current trip, while Rotary International is also supporting Ali's journey.
