Eminent economist Abhijit Sen passed away

Eminent economist, former member of Planning Commission Abhijit Sen passed away.Abhijit Sen, the country's chief expert on rural economy, passed away on Monday night. He was 72 years old at the time of his death.

According to family sources, Abhijit Sen suffered a heart attack around eleven o'clock on Monday night. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved.

In a career spanning more than four decades, Prof. Abhijit Sen has taught economics at Oxford, Cambridge and Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and held several important positions. He was a member of Planning Commission from 2004-2014.
