A Teachers Day Dedicate Teach And Learn

Some days are celebrated on certain days of each month every year. All these days are celebrated to commemorate an important event of the past or to create public awareness on an important issue. India is no exception. One of those days celebrated in India is Teacher's Day.

Every year on September 5, Teachers' Day is celebrated with great reverence across India. Keeping in mind the contribution of teachers in the formation of the country, this day is celebrated in memory of them.

Teacher's Day is celebrated in schools, colleges and universities across India on September 5. Since 1962, every year since 1962, the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, former President, Vice-President, former Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union, and teacher and philosopher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan has been observed as Teacher's Day in India.

Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in a poor Brahmin family in Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu. He was the first Vice President and second President of independent India. When he was only twenty, he published his first research paper on Vedanta philosophy. His teaching career started from Madras Presidency College. After that, he became the 'King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science' at Calcutta University, Spalding Professor of Eastern Religion and Ethics at Oxford University ।

The origin of Teachers' Day in India is mainly around Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan's desire to celebrate his birthday with his gifted students after he became President. But instead of celebrating his own birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan told his students that if his birthday is to be remembered privately, then he would be more happy if the day is celebrated keeping in mind the contribution of all the teachers in this country. Since then, every year on September 5, Teacher's Day is celebrated all over the country.

Noteworthy all over the world, however, Teacher's Day is celebrated exactly one month later - i.e. on 5 October. In all 19 countries celebrate 'Teacher's Day' on 5th October. The countries are—Canada, Germany, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Maldives, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Kuwait, Qatar, Russia, Romania, Serbia, England, Mauritius, Moldova. On the other hand, World Teachers' Day is celebrated on February 28 in 11 other countries of the world. The nations are - Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, UAE, Oman. 5 October 1994 was recognized by UNESCO as 'World Teachers' Day'.
