Devyani Mukherjee, one of the accused in the Sarda case, once brought explosive charges against the CID. Sharbari Mukhopadhyay alleged that the CID is trying to pressure her daughter, forcing her to tell lies. Sharbaridevi claimed that CID is forcing Devyani to give a false statement.

Sharbari Mukhopadhyay's letter to the CBI mentions that Devyani is currently being held in Dum Dum Jail. The CID interrogated Devyani in jail on August 23. Then, after several questions, CID officer Abhijit Mukhopadhyay told Devyani that Sarda owner Sudipta Sen had already told that Subhendu and Sujan had given Rs 6 crore. Devyani has to say that the money was given to Subhendu and Sujan right in front of her.
The CID has also baited Devyani to become a royal witness in the Sarada case. Sharbaridevi claimed that if she did not give a statement, she was threatened to be implicated in nine more cases. However, despite all this, Devyani did not agree to give a false statement.
