*Large Kisan Mahapanchayat in Bihar marks AIKM 4th National Conference*
On September 23, 2022, a large Kisan Mahapanchayat was held at Bikramganj in Rohtas district of Bihar to mark the beginning of the 4th National Conference of the All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM), which will conclude on September 24. Peasants had come in large numbers from various districts of Bihar.
The Mahapanchayat was presided over by AIKM President Ruldu Singh Mansa, and it was addressed by AIKM General Secretary Rajaram Singh, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, SKM leaders Dr Ashok Dhawale, Tejinder Singh Virk, Medha Patkar, Dr Sunilam and others. AIKS Bihar State President Lalan Choudhary was also present.
All the speakers called for launching massive joint struggles on issues of land rights, legal guarantee of MSP, liberation from debt, pension, crop insurance, escalating fertiliser prices, MNREGA expansion etc.
They also called for a concerted political battle by forging the unity of all left, democratic and secular forces, on the recent Bihar pattern, to defeat the anti-people, pro-corporate, communal, Manuwadi and authoritarian Modi-led BJP-RSS government in 2024.
