The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the party in power in Telangana, has criticised the Union Budget, claiming that the state has once again been given a "rough deal" by the federal government.
In his response to the Union Budget 2023-24 that was tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday, the state Finance Minister T. Harish Rao stated that the Center has "once again done injustice to Telangana." He claimed that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act contained "no mention of honouring pledges made to the state."
Rao stated that despite numerous requests made to the Center over the course of the past nine years to establish a rail coaching factory, the Center has remained apathetic.
He referred to the budget as being "flimsy."
Weavers, according to Rao, were not granted any relief or incentives related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), while the subsidy for fertiliser was significantly reduced. According to him, Telangana was treated unfairly in the process of allocating nursing and medical colleges.
