Revolutionary Resolve in London: 20th Conference of AIC, CPI(M) Wing in Britain and Ireland
Southall, London: The 20th conference of the Association of Indian Communists (AIC), the CPI(M) wing in Britain and Ireland, concluded with resounding calls for resistance against imperialism, corporate Hindutva, and global Zionist forces. Held at Sitaram Yechury Nagar on March 15-16, 2025, the conference witnessed the participation of 110 delegates from England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, with a commendable 67% under the age of 50. Women delegates constituted 15 members, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity.
The revolutionary spirit of the event was set ablaze as veteran leader Ajit Singh Dosanjh, aged 93, hoisted the red Party flag. This symbolic act of unity was followed by tributes to martyrs and the adoption of a condolence resolution, reinforcing the movement’s deep-rooted values of sacrifice and struggle.

Inaugurating the conference, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Ashok Dhawale delivered a hard-hitting analysis of the global and domestic political landscape. He condemned imperialist and Zionist aggression globally and lambasted the RSS-BJP's corporate Hindutva project, which extends its influence into Britain. Dhawale urged for a renewed unity among secular forces while emphasizing the urgent need to bolster the independent strength of the Left.
AIC Secretary Harsev Bains presented a detailed report that was enriched by contributions from 20 delegates representing various branches. Their collective insights and critiques underscored the grassroots vibrancy of the organisation. The adoption of three crucial resolutions—on Workers’ Rights, Cuba, and Palestine—reflected the internationalist outlook of the conference.
The conference demonstrated a commitment to generational renewal by electing a 19-member Executive Committee, with provisions to co-opt young comrades, particularly women. Janesh Nair was unanimously chosen as the new AIC Secretary, succeeding Harsev Bains, who served three terms with distinction. Delegates to the upcoming 24th Party Congress in Madurai were also elected, ensuring representation at a national level.
The conference concluded with Dhawale’s rousing speech, which outlined the immediate organisational priorities for the AIC. With unity and determination, the delegates resolved to strengthen the Party’s base, fight neoliberal exploitation, and counter fascist forces in Britain, Ireland, and India.
The 20th AIC conference stands as a beacon of revolutionary determination, charting a path toward a world free from exploitation, oppression, and inequality.
