*Agrarian Seminar in Bengaluru Calls for Struggle against three Karnataka Farm Laws, and for Legal Guarantee to MSP*
On June 25, 2022, a well-attended round table seminar was held in Bengaluru on the topic 'The Agricultural Crisis and the Way Forward'. It was part of a two-day People's Convention on 'The National Crisis - Role of Civil Society', organised jointly by Citizens for Democracy, Society for Communal Harmony and Janaandolana Maha Maitri, in co-operation with the Samyukta Horata, Karnataka.
The round table seminar on the agrarian crisis was presided over by Badagalpura Nagendra, President of the Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha, and the Keynote Address was delivered by Dr Ashok Dhawale, President of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS). It was well translated by Yashavantha, AIKS state council member.
Several peasant leaders and others took part in the enriching discussion, and they included G C Bayya Reddy, President of the AIKS Karnataka state council.
The seminar decided to intensify the struggle against the three black Farm Laws of the BJP's Karnataka government - Karnataka land reform amendment act 2020, Karnataka APMC amendment act 2020, and Karnataka prevention of slaughter and preservation of cattle act 2020. It also decided to strengthen the nationwide struggle for a legal guarantee to MSP and procurement.
Earlier, the People's Convention was inaugurated by Justice Nagamohan Das, the Keynote Address was delivered by S R Hiremath, the Chief Guest was Prof Anand Kumar, ex-faculty of JNU, while it was presided over by Dr T R Chandrashekhar.
