The Hellenic Fire Service of the country said that 15 planes and 9 helicopters were used for rescue work and extinguishing the fire. Many elderly people in the area have been evacuated to safety. Smoke from the fire engulfed the city of Athens. Rescue teams said houses were destroyed in the area but there were no reports of casualties.
A children's hospital in the area has been evacuated as an early warning. The entire Western Europe, including Greece, is burning with high temperatures, the Meteorological Department could not predict any rain. Due to the long-term increase in temperature, the forest area in the country is facing great damage.
The pace of the fire is about nature. 400 firefighters continue to work on the rescue. The mountains surrounding Athens can be seen burning from afar. This fire is probably the first in the history of Greece in terms of severity.
