In Uttar Pradesh, the diagnosis of Khap Panchayat continues, and a minority trader selling meat is now in jail. It was alleged that while selling the chicken meat, the trader wrapped it in a piece of paper and gave it to the buyer which caused controversy. The buyer alleged that the paper on which the meat was given had a picture of the God.
The man went to the police station alleging that the God had been disrespected.
The incident took place at Mehak Restaurant in the state's Sambal town, though the family members of the arrested person denied the allegations. Their allegation was that Talib Hossain was arrested while collecting bills from customers at the restaurant. His son Tabish said that the police suddenly came at 9 pm on Sunday night and arrested him.
In the aftermath of the incident, Hindu organizations on the way to religious angle issued a press statement stating that Talib had deliberately sold meat on a piece of paper with pictures to tarnish Hindu gods and goddesses.
After Talib's arrest, the police made a new allegation that he attacked the police with a knife when he went for questioning, which is why he is now under arrest. His family has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating baseless allegations concerning his family's safety.
