General Body meeting of the Samagra Shiksha Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff Association of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was held at Port Blair.
While addressing the meeting D Ayyappan, Secretary, CPIM Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee came down heavily on the anti-people policies being pursued by the Modi government. He explained about the casualisation and contractorisation of government jobs by the Modi government at the centre, privatisation of government sector, not filling up of lakhs of posts lying vacant in government departments /organisations under the central government including the ten thousand posts lying vacant under the Andaman Nicobar Administration.
Growing unemployment in the country, hollowness of the promises of Modi government, price rise, etc. He severely criticized the BJP-led central government for contractorisation of jobs in defence services through Agnipath Scheme. He took a dig at the BJP and Sangh Parivar for organizing programmes in support of the Agnipath scheme in A & N Islands and said that chances of hundreds of local youth to join defence services have been thwarted by the Modi government and called upon the youths to think twice before participating in such programmes being organized by the Sanghparivar.
