Massive protest in Burdwan University on the call of SFI. Many people want to know the exact reason for such intense movement.
Strong protest in Burdwan University. The East Burdwan District Committee of SFI called the Burdwan University Abhiyan on several issues on Tuesday.
Their protest took a terrible form. They broke the lock of the university gate with bricks and stones and entered inside. After that, the gate of the vice-chancellor's office was blocked and a protest was held in front of it. The procession of SFI started from Badamtala in Burdwan. Via Curzon Gate, BC Road, the procession reached the main entrance of the university around 12 noon. There, the SFI workers raised their voices demanding the opening of the gate of the university.
In this regard, SFI East Burdwan district secretary Anirban Roy Chowdhury complained, "Anarchy is going on in Burdwan University. This anarchic situation has been created since 2014. On the one hand, I can see that students are not getting the results of exams. On the other hand, since 2021, the affiliation of NAC has been in Burdwan University. No. As a result, we are particularly concerned about the future of this university or the future of those who are currently studying at this university."
Apart from this, it is alleged that distance education studies have practically stopped. Anirban said, "University authorities are not able to conduct exams since 2014. They are not able to give admit cards. They are not able to give hard copies of results. But the organization which has failed to do these things has been allocated 21 crore rupees again for this work. We I want to say that it is not corruption, it is corruption. Burdwan University is actually running on corruption and nepotism."
Anirban also said, "This university has corrupted the work that the nearby college UIT is doing for two and a half lakh rupees by giving it to a private organization for 21 crore rupees. There are 63 colleges under Burdwan University. Each college spends two and a half lakh rupees on this work. In all, one and a half 7 Crores are being allocated to do the work which is worth crores of rupees. So we want to know where the rest of the money is going. Did that money go to Anuvrata Mandal, Partha Chattopadhyay? Or is that money deposited in a secret flat of the Vice-Chancellor?
