Serious allegations of human rights violations have been leveled against the police, people are roaring against them when the rampant corruption is rampant in the state.
When CPIM is leading the protests, police brutality is descending on them. Such brutality was witnessed by the civil disobedience movement in Burdwan. The presence of many people made it the best rally ever. CPIM, from this rally in front of the District Magistrate's office, there is a huge police barricade in front of the Curzon Gate.Water cannons were used to stop the procession and the tear gas cell burst in the procession.
Many questions are crowding the crowd. Police's over-activity on that day to stop the procession has provoked about 25,000 people. As a result, the crowd has become violent. It does not end here. The police started lathi charge to disperse the procession.
Other party workers also jumped in to save the women in front of the procession when lathis continued. The flames of anger engulfed the Biswa Bangla logo and the local Trinamool MLA's office. The elderly and women comrades in front of the procession were helpless. The CPIM State Secretary Mohammad Salim, repeatedly appealed to the police to calm down. but the police did not pay any attention. On the contrary, women were seen being beaten extensively.
Among the multiple human rights violations was the torture of former CPIM candidate student leader Pritha Ta in the Bardhaman city, the dragging of a political prisoner through the streets by her hair.CPIM central committee member Abhash Roy Chodhuri was taken to the prison van to be beaten by the collar of his shirt.
Many got head injuries, many got leg injuries, but the arrested left workers were deprived of minimal medical treatment during the night lockup. These incidents undoubtedly prove the violation of human rights. Moreover, the police administration is facing legal questions regarding two FIRs in the same incident. Several lawyers raised questions in this regard.
CPIM has decided to go to the High Court against the police administration, needless to say the court premises are going to be heated for the next few days over the human rights violations by the police.
