Ashok Gehlot alleges mainstream media has ‘boycotted’ Bharat Jodo Yatra

On Monday, Ashok Gehlot, chief minister of Rajasthan, lashed out at the national media, saying that editors and owners are under pressure to "boycott" Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.Speaking to reporters the day after the Bharat Jodo Yatra crossed into the Congress-controlled state, Gehlot said the media had failed miserably in its role as the "fourth pillar" of democracy.

As Gehlot commenced his rant against the media, All India Congress Committee General Secretary (Communication) Jairam Ramesh interrupted to defend the journalists present at there, saying they should not be criticized as they have been performing their work well.

According to Gehlot, the Yatra has been met with enthusiastic enthusiasm from all around the country and online. That the media has ignored the yatra is my accusation. Thousands upon thousands of individuals are signing up. However, it hasn't gotten much love from the major networks. That they have nothing to do with the reason the media exists as a social force. He referred to it as the "fourth pillar," emphasizing its value in its own right. The media have an obligation to report the news. If anything unfortunate occurs, you will pay for it. This yatra is a nice one because Rahul Gandhi is marching on it with a cheerful attitude. Neither violence nor hostility exist. If you are not exhibiting this yatra, you are not completing your duty,” Gehlot stated.

The phrase "Kaan khol kar sun lo...bhi wale national media ka. official propaganda outlets alone. Ignore his pleas for forgiveness; "Itihas aapko maaf nahi karega," he cried out. So, heed my words: media of the nation and the state, you will not be forgiven by posterity. He stated that the yatra is not exclusive to members of the BJP or the RSS and that everyone is welcome to participate. The chief minister claimed media houses too have “high commands” and journalists too are terrified of transfers and placements.
