In the matter referred to as "Vialidad," the conviction that was given down on December 6, 2022 against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has been completely and utterly rejected by Feminist International, which issues the following statement:
The corollary of a long and deep judicial, media, and political persecution that seeks to discipline and intimidate the primary leader of Argentina is a sentence of six years in prison and perpetual disqualification from public office. This sentence was handed down as the corollary of the persecution. The articulation of large media outlets, judicial corporations, economic organizations, and a right wing that is hostile to democracy has evolved into a methodical formula that can be used to attack popular processes and the leaders of such movements.
In this particular instance, it is a judicial process that does not have any evidentiary support, is riddled with irregularities, and has not been able to link Cristina, after three years of oral trial, in any of the irregularities that were investigated. Despite this, the prosecution is attempting to use the figure of illicit association in the accusation in order to charge three democratically elected governments. Cristina has maintained her innocence throughout the proceedings. In addition to this, an extraordinary media campaign of lynching was mounted with the goal of politically outlawing it in order to weaken the action of the popular movement as a whole and democracy in our region. The objective of this campaign was to undermine the ability of the people to take action.
This attack is made worse by the attempted femimagnicide she endured on September 1, and in both of them, we are certain that a misogynist hatred is added, which neither tolerates nor forgives the fact that a woman has confronted the sectors of power, that she has dedicated her political life to working for the majority and for causes that are just, and that the Argentine people recognize her for doing so.
This condemnation and this persecution aims to discipline all of us; they want us to be submissive, they want us to be domesticated, and they want us to stay out of politics. As a result, we are issuing a global call to action in the hopes that feminists all over the world will assertively denounce this persecution, express their solidarity with Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, and redouble their efforts to defend democracy and respect popular sovereignty.
If they touch one of us, they touch us all; if they touch Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, we embrace her and yell at the top of our lungs, "If they touch one of us, they touch us all!"
