Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open title for the 10th time, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in a masterful performance . Djokovic's serve was dominant in the third set, and he won 20 straight points on his serve from 1-all in the third set through to 5-2 in the tiebreaker . Djokovic's backhand was errant in the second set, but it reverted to being a weapon in the third, with the 35-year-old regularly rifling winners from that wing . He claimed the world No.1 ranking and drew level with Rafael Nadal on 22 grand slams singles titles, defeating third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas to win a record-extending 10th Australian Open trophy .

Djokovic was tested by Tsitsipas in the pair’s second meeting in a grand slam final and had to save a set point in the second set, but ultimately pulled through on a court that has so often seen him achieve the seemingly unachievable . Nick Kyrgios said that Djokovic will win 28 Grand Slam titles "easy" and that number 22 is in the bag . After the win Djokovic climbed into his players’ box and was left sobbing uncontrollably, the tears continuing to flow after he returned to his bench . 

Djokovic has donned a jacket with "22" on it before the final, indicating his confidence . The final set was one-way traffic, with Djokovic winning two backhand errors from Tsitsipas and taking the title [3]. It was a remarkable victory for Djokovic, who is now just one grand slam title behind Rafael Nadal in the all-time rankings.
