In a joint operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Internal Security Division (ISD) of the Karnataka police, a software engineer from Bengaluru has been detained in connection to alleged links with proscribed terror organisations .
The suspect, Arif, was planning to flee the country with his family and had been working for a software firm in the city for the past two years . Sources have revealed that Arif was active on social media and was in contact with foreign-based online handlers affiliated to proscribed terrorist organisations over encrypted communication platforms .
The Home Minister of Karnataka, Araga Jnanendra, praised the team's efforts in apprehending the terror suspect before he fled the country.
