The assembly of Karnataka has approved a bill that will let women work night shifts.
Without any discussion, the Karnataka Legislative Assembly has given its approval to a measure that will modify the Factories Act to remove restrictions on women working night shifts in manufacturing facilities.
Employees who work 12 hours a day for four days in a row will be able to take three days off thanks to another provision of the bill. Employers are required to provide a list of safety measures to protect women employees who are required to work at night. These measures may include transport and CCTV coverage.
