The President of Ukraine has fired a senior military officer without providing an explanation.
Eduard Moskalyov, a top military commander who was spearheading the country's struggle against Russian soldiers in Donbas, was terminated from his position by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an unexpected move.
The termination was stated in a brief decree that did not provide any further reason. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine in March 2022, Moskalyov was appointed to his position, and he had been there ever since. There has been no public explanation provided for the abrupt change.
