Unity of permanent and temporary workers is necessary to stop the attack on workers due to the crisis of minimum wage of contract workers in state-owned steel. The movement will be successful by maintaining unity, said SWFI General Secretary Lalit Mishra.
The 9th convention of contract workers was held in Bokaro, Jharkhand. It will be held in Delhi on April 5. Lalit Mishra called to make the gathering historic.

Contract workers of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) are protesting, demanding fairer wages and better welfare for those employed through contracts. The workers have been raising the issue for a long time and have organized multiple protests in the past to press their demands.
The contract workers are recognized as integral part of the SAIL work force, and yet they do not get the same wages, benefits, and social security as permanent employees. They are also more vulnerable to exploitation as there is no formal contract of employment and no organized effort to protect their rights.
Citu have urged SAIL to end the exploitation of contract workers and ensure that they are not denied their rights as SAIL employees.
Citu continue their agitation until their demands are met. They have asked for SAIL to come to the negotiating table and resolve the issues, and have urged the government to pressure SAIL to meet their demands.
