Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched multiple development projects on Sunday, March 5, 2023, worth Rs 3,081 crore in three western districts of the state, including Bargarh, Nuapada, and Kalahandi. The launch of these projects coincided with the 107th birth anniversary of the legendary leader, Biju Patnaik, who is considered one of the most prominent leaders in the history of Odisha.
One of the most significant projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister was the Biju Expressway, a 221 km-long four-lane road connecting Bargarh to the southern boundary of the state, at a cost of Rs 1,207 crore. The expressway is expected to facilitate the transportation of goods and people, thereby promoting economic development and job creation in the region.

In addition to the expressway, the Biju Economic Corridor, another key project worth Rs 1,200 crore, was also inaugurated. This corridor is aimed at improving connectivity between the western and southern regions of the state and is expected to boost trade and commerce in the area.
Furthermore, interest-free loans were distributed to members of Mission Shakti, which is a state-sponsored program aimed at empowering women through self-help groups. This initiative is expected to help women entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses and generate employment opportunities in their respective areas.
Apart from these major initiatives, various other development projects were also launched by the Chief Minister, including the construction of new hospitals, schools, and roads in the three districts. These projects are expected to improve the overall infrastructure and standard of living in the region.
