Protests for Cancellation of TNTET Competitive Exam Grow Stronger:
The Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has been conducted since 2012 to qualify candidates for Intermediate and Graduate Teachers positions in Government schools in Tamil Nadu. Candidates who pass the TET are appointed to these positions. However, in 2018, it was announced that those who pass the TET would need to take a competitive exam as the next step.
Currently, the competitive exam system is in place, but many are demanding its cancellation. During the 2021 assembly elections, the DMK promised to cancel the competitive exam for teaching positions, further fueling the demands to cancel the exam.
