Students' Federation of India Launches Campaign to Save Primary Education from Government Shutdowns in bengal

The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has launched a campaign to repeal the decision to close primary schools that the state government has taken. The campaign will kick off on Friday, March 10th, with two processions from Howrah and Shyaldah.

At a press conference held by SFI State secretary, Srijan bhattacharya called on the state's students not to attend class on Wednesday. However, if there is a predetermined exam schedule, students are urged not to disrupt it and instead join the general class boycott, according to SFI's position.

The state government has limited the time of legislative assembly sessions, forcing SFI to campaign during the ongoing session. The SFIO has alleged that the state government has closed 14,000 schools since 2011, while the Left Front claims they have built one thousand schools every year. SFI has accused the state government of closing around 8,000 government schools, putting 25 lakh students' futures at risk.

Corruption has infiltrated education, with irregularities in mid-day meals, and the state government's desire to close 8,209 schools. They have also failed to appoint principals for higher education, leading to the shutdown of various hostels. During admissions, colleges are demanding extra money from students, and there is no platform for students to voice their grievances.

SFI's campaign aims to draw attention to these issues and put pressure on the state government to take corrective measures. While the students' organization has called for a boycott of classes, they have emphasized that exams should not be disrupted. The fight for education is critical, and SFI hopes that their campaign will lead to positive changes for the education system in the state.
