Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik Summoned by CBI Amid Pulwama Security Lapse Controversy
Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, who has recently made headlines for his critical remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of the Pulwama attack and the subsequent security lapse, has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in connection with an insurance scam in the region .
Malik, who served as the Governor from August 2018 to October 2019, claimed in an interview that the Home Ministry refused to provide the five aircraft requested by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to ferry its personnel . As a result, security forces were forced to move en masse by road, making them vulnerable to a deadly terrorist ambush. Malik alleges that he informed PM Modi about the incident, but was told to remain silent on the matter.
The Congress party has demanded answers from the government regarding the 2019 Pulwama incident, in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed [2]. The BJP has not directly addressed Malik's allegations, with some leaders opting to attack his credibility by citing past comments, including one in which he mocked Rahul Gandhi .
Now, as Malik faces a CBI summons in relation to an insurance scam in Jammu and Kashmir, some political analysts argue that this may be a case of political vendetta. The former governor has been an outspoken critic of the current government, particularly with regard to the Pulwama security lapse. His recent remarks have landed him in hot water, and the timing of the CBI summons has raised eyebrows among observers.
It remains to be seen whether there is any merit to the allegations of political vendetta or if the CBI's investigation into the insurance scam is an unrelated matter. Nevertheless, the controversy surrounding Malik's recent statements and the CBI summons has added another layer of intrigue to the ongoing debate over the Pulwama security lapse.
