A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been suspended for sexually molesting a woman in a grocery store in Manipur. The incident, which was caught on CCTV, took place on July 20 in the Imphal West district.
The jawan, identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad, was seen repeatedly groping the woman while she was shopping. The woman, who has not been identified, was reportedly left shaken by the incident.
The BSF has taken swift action against Prasad, suspending him from duty and launching an internal investigation. A Court of Inquiry has also been initiated.
The BSF has said that it has zero tolerance for such misconduct and that Prasad will be dealt with "severely".
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with many people calling for Prasad to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
The Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress has demanded that the state government take action against Prasad and ensure that the woman gets justice.
The incident has also highlighted the need for greater awareness about sexual harassment and the importance of reporting such incidents to the authorities.
