Opposition to move no-confidence motion against Centre amid Manipur unrest

New Delhi, July 25: Opposition parties on Tuesday said they will move a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government in Parliament in the wake of the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said the opposition parties have decided to move the no-confidence motion against the government in both Houses of Parliament. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set aside his ego and address the nation regarding the ongoing unrest in Manipur, emphasising the need for answers from the government.

"The opposition parties have been demanding a statement from the Prime Minister on the Manipur violence for the past few days. However, the government has not yet responded to our demands. We have decided to move a no-confidence motion against the government in both Houses of Parliament," Kharge said.

The opposition parties have been staging protests in Parliament over the Manipur violence. The protests have led to the adjournment of both Houses of Parliament several times.

The ethnic violence in Manipur has been going on for over 80 days. The violence has claimed the lives of over 100 people and displaced thousands of others.

The opposition parties have accused the government of failing to take steps to stop the violence. They have also accused the government of trying to suppress the truth about the violence.

The government has denied the allegations of the opposition parties. It has said that it is taking all necessary steps to stop the violence and bring the situation under control.

The no-confidence motion is likely to be moved in Parliament next week. It remains to be seen whether the motion will be successful.
