'Gadar 2' Director Anil Sharma Reacts to Pakistan's Seema Haider's Cross-Border Romance
Anil Sharma, the director of the upcoming film "Gadar 2," has reacted to the cross-border love saga of Pakistan's Seema Haider and her Indian lover Sachin Meena. Sharma said that he was inspired by their love story, especially since "Gadar 2" also involves two lovers and a volatile border.
"It's a good thing. The journey must go on... Love doesn't accept any border. But every man, every country has its own things," Sharma said.
Haider and Meena's love story made headlines in 2019 when they were arrested in India for allegedly crossing the border illegally. They were later released on bail.
Sharma said that he hopes the film will inspire people to follow their hearts, regardless of the obstacles in their way. "Love is the most powerful force in the world," he said. "It can overcome anything."
"Gadar 2" is set to be released in theaters on December 23, 2023. It is the sequel to the 2001 film "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha," which was a major box office success.
The film stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. It also features Utkarsh Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha, and Dharmendra in supporting roles.
The film is produced by Zee Studios and Ajay Devgn Films. It is directed by Anil Sharma.
