Facebook has launched a new feature that allows users to create multiple personal profiles on the platform. This feature, which is gradually rolling out globally, will allow users to have up to four additional personal profiles, each with its own unique Feed and privacy settings.
The multiple personal profiles feature is designed to give users more control over their online experience and allow them to share different aspects of their lives with different groups of people. For example, a user might have one profile for their personal life, one profile for their professional life, and one profile for their hobbies.
To create a new personal profile, users simply need to go to their profile settings and click on the "Create New Profile" button. They will then be asked to choose a name and username for their new profile. Once the profile is created, users can add friends, join groups, and share posts just like they would on their main profile.
To switch between profiles, users can simply tap on their profile picture in the top right corner of the Facebook app and select the profile they want to use. There is no need to log in or out.
The multiple personal profiles feature is currently only available to adult accounts. Some Facebook features, such as Dating, Marketplace, Professional Mode, and payments, are not yet available to additional personal profiles. However, Meta has stated that it plans to expand support for these features in the coming months.
The launch of the multiple personal profiles feature is a significant change for Facebook, which has long required users to have a single profile. The new feature is likely to be welcomed by many users, who have been asking for the ability to create multiple profiles for years. However, it remains to be seen how widely the feature is adopted and how it impacts Facebook's overall business model.
