Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal locked the Davis Cup tie against Morocco at 1-1 with a fluent 6-3 6-3 win over Adam Moundir on Saturday.
Playing in front of a partisan home crowd in Lucknow, Nagal was dominant from the start, breaking Moundir's serve twice in the first set to take a 3-0 lead. He held on to his serve comfortably to win the set 6-3.
The second set was a closer affair, but Nagal again broke Moundir's serve twice, at 3-2 and 5-3, to seal the victory.
Nagal's win was a crucial one for India, who had lost the first singles match of the tie to Yassine Dlimi. The two teams will now face off in the doubles match on Sunday, with the winner advancing to the next round of the Davis Cup.
Sumit Nagal's victory over Adam Moundir is a testament to his growing stature as a tennis player. He has now won all four of his Davis Cup singles matches, and he is playing a key role in India's quest to return to the World Group I.
