ওড়িশায় বিপুল বজ্রপাতের ঘটনায় ১২ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। শনিবার বিকেল সাড়ে ৫টা থেকে শুরু হয় বাজ পড়া। ২-৩ ঘণ্টায় ৬১ হাজার ৩৫০টি বাজ পড়ে। আবহাওয়াবিদরা বলছেন, মাত্র ২ থেকে ৩ ঘণ্টায় এত বেশি বাজ পড়ার ঘটনা স্বাভাবিক নয়। বিরল ঘটনা বলেই মনে করছেন বিশেষজ্ঞরা।
ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে রাজ্যের ঝাড়সুগুড়, সুন্দরগড়, কেন্দুঝর, নয়াগড়, কোরাপুট, গঞ্জাম এবং বালেশ্বর জেলায়। মৃতদের মধ্যে ৫ জন মহিলা এবং ৭ জন পুরুষ। এদের মধ্যে ৪ জন শিশুও রয়েছে।
বজ্রপাতের কারণে বেশ কয়েকটি ঘরও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। মৃতদের পরিবারকে ৪ লক্ষ টাকা করে ক্ষতিপূরণ দেওয়ার ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।
রাজ্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে বজ্রপাত থেকে বাঁচার জন্য জনগণকে সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানানো হয়েছে।

Twelve people have been killed in a severe thunderstorm in Odisha. The thunderstorm began at 5:30 pm on Saturday and lasted for 2-3 hours, during which 61,350 lightning strikes were recorded. According to meteorologists, it is unusual to have so many lightning strikes in such a short period of time. Experts believe that this is a rare event.
The incident took place in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Koraput, Ganjam and Balasore. Of the dead, 5 are women and 7 are men. Four of them are children.
Several houses have also been damaged due to the thunderstorm. The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased.
The state government has urged the people to take precautionary measures to avoid being struck by lightning.
