Sankar pal
The working class movement mourns the untimely loss of a revered leader and stalwart, Comrade Bibek Hom Chowdhury, who dedicated his life to championing the rights of coal workers. In a heart-wrenching announcement made just an hour ago, we bid farewell to this remarkable figure.
Comrade Bibek Hom Chowdhury, affectionately known as Bibek da, was an emblematic figure in the coal workers movement, particularly within the Eastern Coalfield region. His commitment and tireless efforts spanned decades, making him a prominent senior leader of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the General Secretary of the Colliery Mazdoor Sabha of India (CMSI). Furthermore, he played a pivotal role as a national office bearer of the All India Coal Workers Federation, and in the most recent CMSI conference, he was elected as Vice President. His life was an embodiment of unwavering dedication to the working class movement.
Bibek da's presence extended like a comforting hand to the coal workers of Asansole-Raniganj, reaching as far as the ECL mines in Jharkhand. He chose to call the CMSI office in Raniganj his home, and there, his fellow comrades became an inseparable part of his extended family. Every breath he took was infused with the struggle of coal workers, and his entire existence was a testament to his unwavering commitment to their cause.
The passing of Comrade Bibek Chowdhury has left a void that will be deeply felt in the CITU and the broader coal workers' movement. Our hearts go out to his family members and comrades as they navigate this challenging time. Let us unite in paying a Red Salute to Comrade Bibek da, and may his legacy endure as a guiding light for generations to come. Com Bibek Hom Chowdhury Amar Rahe.
