CPI(M) Tripura Alleges Irregularities, Files Complaint with Election Commission

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tripura State Committee has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India, citing irregularities in the recently held elections in Tripura West parliamentary constituency. The complaint, addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, highlights discrepancies in the polling figures of several booths.

In one instance, at Polling Part No. 44 of 10-Majlishpur Assembly, the total polled votes exceeded the total number of registered voters, indicating a polling percentage of 105.30%. Similar anomalies were observed in other polling stations within the constituency, raising concerns about the fairness and integrity of the electoral process.

Jitendra Chandhury, Secretary of CPI(M) Tripura, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged discrepancies to uphold the sanctity of democracy and ensure the protection of the people's mandate. The party has called for the countermanding of the elections and the organization of fresh polls to address these concerns.

The Election Commission is yet to respond to the complaint filed by the CPI(M) Tripura State Committee.
