Dmitry Bakanov Meets with Valentina Tereshkova to Discuss Cosmonaut Training Center Development

Moscow – Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of Roscosmos, held a significant meeting with Valentina Tereshkova, the world’s first woman in space, at the Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC). Maxim Kharlamov, head of the CPC, also attended the discussions, which focused on the center's operations and future growth.
The meeting stemmed from a conversation on March 6, during which Bakanov congratulated Tereshkova on her 88th birthday. Both leaders expressed their commitment to advancing space exploration and astronaut training initiatives.
A highlight of the discussion was Tereshkova's instrumental role in securing a 5 billion ruble allocation two years ago for CPC's renovation and modernization. The funding has contributed significantly to enhancing the center’s infrastructure and capabilities.
“This collaboration underscores the importance of preserving the legacy of pioneers like Valentina Vladimirovna while ensuring the CPC remains at the forefront of space exploration,” Bakanov stated after the meeting.
As the CPC continues to evolve, the meeting set a promising tone for Roscosmos' strategic vision and reaffirmed the agency's dedication to innovation and international leadership in space science.
