Veteran Congress Leader and Literary Figure Kumari Ananthan Passes Away at 93
Chennai: Veteran Tamil Nadu Congress leader and esteemed literary figure, Kumari Ananthan, has died at the age of 93.
Having been battling age-related health complications, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. He passed away in the early hours of today.
Kumari Ananthan had a distinguished political career, serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) five times and as a Member of Parliament (MP) once. He was widely respected for his exceptional oratory skills and his profound dedication to the Tamil language and literature.
The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders and literary figures across the state. His mortal remains are currently placed at his daughter, Tamilisai Soundararajan’s residence in Saligramam, Chennai, for public homage. The final rites are scheduled to take place this evening.
