New Delhi, May 8, 2025 — John Brittas, leader of the CPI(M) in the Rajya Sabha, expressed strong concerns today during the All-Party Meeting convened to discuss Operation Sindoor. Speaking on behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Brittas criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's absence from the meeting for the second consecutive time. He urged the government to hold a special parliamentary session with the Prime Minister's active participation to address the pressing concerns.
Referring to government claims about the operation's "intended objectives," Brittas questioned the efficacy of military action in eliminating terrorist groups, citing past failures. He emphasized the need for sustained diplomatic efforts and international pressure to tackle terrorism effectively while cautioning against any escalation of the conflict.
The CPI(M) leader also called on the government to prioritize the safety of border communities and provide necessary support to those affected by the ongoing situation. He stressed the importance of transparency, urging the government to counter misinformation and share all facts with the public.
Brittas further highlighted the need to combat hate and divisive narratives, asserting that "terror has no religion." He reiterated that the fight against terrorism must not fuel communal tensions or hatred.
Commending the resilience of the people of Pahalgam and Kashmir, Brittas lauded their unity in condemning terrorism despite enduring its adverse effects. He called for an all-party delegation to visit Kashmir to express solidarity with its people and address their grievances comprehensively.
The All-Party Meeting, convened amid heightened tensions following Operation Sindoor, underscored the importance of collective political action to resolve the challenges facing the nation.
