New Delhi: In a significant escalation of tensions, the Indian Armed Forces successfully shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet that violated Indian airspace on Thursday. This decisive action follows an attempted drone attack by Pakistan on Jammu, which was also thwarted by Indian forces.
The drone attack, intercepted in the early hours, aimed to target critical infrastructure but was neutralized effectively, ensuring no casualties or damage. The incident marks another instance of Pakistan’s alleged aggressive maneuvers along the border.
Simultaneously, Indian forces are responding to intensified shelling and firing from the Pakistani side in Punjab's Pathankot and various locations in Jammu and Kashmir. Security officials reported that Indian troops are maintaining a robust defense, ensuring the safety of civilians and infrastructure in these border areas.
The Ministry of Defence, in a statement, lauded the armed forces' vigilance and swift action. “The successful interception of the Pakistani F-16 and drones underscores our commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of our nation,” it said.
The events have further strained relations between the two nations, which have a history of conflicts over territorial disputes, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian authorities have called for international attention to Pakistan's repeated ceasefire violations and aggressive provocations.
Officials are monitoring the situation closely, with heightened security measures implemented along the Line of Control and the International Border.
