Syrian Communists Hold Rally Commemorating Victory Over Nazism and National Unity

The Syrian Communist Party organized a rally in Qamishli to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, emphasizing themes of national independence, workers’ rights, and unity against imperialism. The event coincided with Evacuation Day, Syria's national independence day, and International Workers' Day, highlighting their shared significance in the struggle for freedom and justice.

Prominent party leaders, including Central Committee member Ammar Othman and Regional Committee member Um Gandhi, addressed a diverse crowd of party members, supporters, and allies. The rally began with a moment of silence in honor of martyrs who fought against fascism, imperialism, and for workers' rights.

Speeches emphasized the historical sacrifices of the Soviet Union in defeating Nazism, led by Joseph Stalin, and their role in inspiring global liberation movements. Party leaders also reflected on Syria's independence struggles, particularly the contributions of communist leaders like Khaled Bakdash.

The rally criticized current governance, calling out the authoritarian practices of local and national authorities, as well as foreign interventions from imperialist powers and regional occupiers. Speakers underscored the challenges faced by the people of Al-Jazira, including economic crises, resource shortages, and political repression.

Ammar Othman stressed the importance of building a broad coalition of patriotic forces to reclaim national sovereignty, remove foreign occupiers, and establish a just, independent state. The rally concluded with chants for workers' rights, national unity, and resistance against imperialism and occupation.
