Arriving in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1801, Hare initially came as a watchmaker but soon found a higher calling: to uplift the impoverished masses through education. He recognized the transformative power of knowledge and dedicated his life to founding institutions that would become cornerstones of learning and progress. Among his enduring contributions were the Hindu School, Hare School, and his pivotal role in establishing the Presidency College—each of these institutions fostering a spirit of inquiry and excellence.
