Patna, July 8:
Addressing the Joint Press Conference of the INDIA Alliance Bihar in Patna today, CPI(M) Central Committee member Comrade Awadhesh Kumar made a strong appeal to the people of Bihar to make the nationwide general strike on July 9 and the Chakka Jam in Bihar on the same day a resounding success.
He said the workers, farmers and common citizens have been facing relentless attacks on their livelihoods and rights under the current regime, and the July 9 protest is a crucial moment to raise their voice in unity. “We urge all democratic forces, trade unions, farmers’ organisations and the masses to come forward and ensure the success of the strike and chakka jam,” he said.
Comrade Awadhesh Kumar also raised a pointed demand before the Election Commission of India, calling for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections to be conducted on the same voter list that was used for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said this was necessary to ensure transparency, fairness and the inclusion of all eligible voters.
The press conference was attended by leaders of various INDIA alliance constituents, who reiterated their commitment to the struggle for people’s rights and against authoritarian policies.
