Sagar, South 24 Parganas: A large public rally was held at Rudranagar in the Sagar region of South 24 Parganas on Friday, where CPI(M) leaders Meenakshi Mukherjee and Sayan Banerjee addressed supporters and local residents. Organisers described the event as one of the largest political gatherings witnessed in the area in recent years.
The rally drew a significant turnout, with participants raising concerns over issues including livelihoods, employment, public services, and democratic rights. According to the organisers, the gathering reflected growing public discontent among sections of the population who feel economically and socially deprived.
Addressing the gathering, Meenakshi Mukherjee said that the rally represented the collective aspirations of people seeking dignity, justice, and equitable development. She stated that many residents who have experienced hardship and deprivation had come together to voice their concerns through democratic means.
Speaking at the event, Sayan Banerjee described the large public participation as an indication of increasing political engagement among ordinary citizens. He called for continued democratic mobilisation around issues affecting workers, farmers, youth, and marginalised communities.
