SFI Strongly Condemns High-Handedness and Aggression on LPU Campus; Demands Urgent Safety and Administrative Accountability

 

PHAGWARA, PUNJAB — The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has issued a fierce condemnation regarding the ongoing turmoil, hostility, and alleged high-handedness at Lovely Professional University (LPU), expressing solidarity with students protesting on campus.

Denouncing the escalating tension and the presence of unruly elements on university premises, the student body lashed out at right-wing forces, including the ABVP, accusing them of exacerbating campus hostility, suppressing student voices, and political posturing in times of severe crisis.

A Statement of Strong Condemnation

Addressing the alarming developments and midnight protests triggered by safety concerns on campus, SFI leadership characterized the situation as a total breakdown of student security and campus administration.

"The students of Lovely Professional University are trapped in an atmosphere of fear and hostility. Rather than addressing legitimate safety concerns transparently, the university administration has repeatedly failed the student community. We strongly condemn the violent tactics, intimidation, and political interference by ABVP hooligans who are exploiting the distress of common students to create chaos on campus," stated SFI representatives.

The leadership further asserted that student security and dignity cannot be compromised and urged authorities to immediately halt any heavy-handed suppression of student demonstrations.

SFI Demands Immediate Action

In its official statement, the Students’ Federation of India outlined key demands to restore normalcy and ensure justice:

• Administrative Accountability: An immediate, transparent inquiry into the safety lapses on campus and the grievances raised by hostellers.
  
  
• Action Against Violence: Strict legal action against violent mobs, outsiders, and political instigators disrupting campus peace.
  
  
• Student Safety Guarantees: Concrete security measures for all students, particularly female hostellers, without imposing restrictive or coercive measures.
  
  
• Fulfillment of Student Demands: Immediate dialogue between university authorities, police officials, and student representatives to address all pending grievances fairly.

SFI volunteers are coordinating assistance for students seeking safe passage to their home states or secure off-campus accommodation amid class suspensions and ongoing tensions.
