BEAUTIFUL AND HAUNTING NAXALITE DRAMA
Setting the backdrop in the 1990s, Virata Parvam is an Indian Telugu Action, Romantic, Period drama filled movie where plot revolves around the Naxalite insurgency that sprung up in the Andhra Pradesh. The film revolves around the story of love with the dollops of politics and action as well.Directed by Udugula Venu, the movie stares Rana Daggubati as Dr. Ravi Shankar aka Comrade Ravanna and Sai Pallavi aka Vennela as the main roles where supporting Priyamani aka Comrade Bharathakka and many others.
The plot begins with Vennela who is loosely based on Sarala, a 16 yr old girl who quit her studies and got enrolled herself in the Peoples War Group to join the Naxalites in their cause in the Warangal district. Later, Sarala was killed under certain mysterious circumstances.Likewise here, Vennela (Sai Pallavi) is born at Warangal amidst a Naxal Police gun fight war on a full moon night. Being a dancer, she grew up with the inspiration of her father and the Naxal leader Comrade Ravanna (Rana Daggubati),a maoist teachings through the books been a stubborn girl since her childhood.
When she learns that there’s no greater power than love, she engrossed so much that she devoted herself to the Naxal Movement, into comrade’s work and ideology which made her followed to that path with the hope to be with him for the rest of the life. The director here, did a god way to juxtapose Vennela’s naivety with ravanna and fellow comrades as the film progresses. He also banks here that the fact of love as an irrational emotion.
Numerous times in the film is visulised that Vennela could not prove her reason of love for Ravanna whom she even didn’t know, only by his poetry which is symbolised as pure and unconditional. The same we experienced in our real life, but it was so clearly reeled eough to understand the audience about the exceptional love scene between them. Practically, the communist ideology might not always ties them but wants respect for the revolution and its people, thus creating a dreamy sequence between the lead role. The director made his views clear.
Mainly, the female character pulls everyone’s attention in the film with a spectacular performance that will keep one hooked none the less. Where Fighter Ravanna is left bruised and beaten. Not only the lead roles, but alos the supporting roles made us to tighten our seat belt in the hall to get lost in the characters pouring the real into reel life and demnds us to be stoic and let our eyes do the talking.
But as the film belongs not only to the director and its cast, but the credit also dragged to the editor Sreekar Prasad for the one toned policemen , created u to left to think otherwise. Even for a moment, the way he lets us to think about this unconditional love is brilliant. But the dialogue did not make such humour in the film as some are poetic and the rest were like normal home land.
Whereas, for the OST and the background score Suresh Bobbili was applouded by all.
Dani Sanchez-Lopez and Divakar Mani’s camerawork was outstanding thus visualising a haunting scene, letting you to immerse into the world of Ravanna and the Naxalite War World making you photostat even after the film is over.
Coming to the soundtrack and score is composed by Suresh Bobbili under the label of T-series and Lahari Music. The singers include Divya Mallika, Suresh Bobbili, Hemachandra, Varam. The song blended well the backgdrop with the plot, a big hand for the lyricists.
