Many people of Mewat actively participated in the freedom movement of India. Mewat is called the land of martyrs. Be it the war of 1857 or the subsequent freedom struggle, the people of Mewat were never behind in making sacrifices.
Marxist leader Abdul Hai, a famous freedom fighter and a symbol of national unity and social justice, was also one of those people who played a very important role in the freedom movement.
Even after independence, when the dry fruits were being driven out of Mewat, they united day and night to resettle them here and get their land and property back. He was also a prolific writer. He wrote many articles on the history and culture of Mewat which were published in countries other than India as well. Throughout his life he struggled for the poor farmers and laborers. He worked throughout his life to maintain the integrity and unity of the country.
Today is the birthday of Abdul Hai. On this occasion, officials of various organizations, their family members and other dignitaries reached their village Ghuwali in Palwal district this morning and while offering flowers at their mazar, reiterated their resolve to make India of their dreams. Later a tribute meeting was organized in the hall of DRDA in Nuh. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) salutes Abdul Hai, a revolutionary, and reiterates his resolve to fulfill his dreams.
