With anger over the role of the police in Durgapur today,The Trinamool Congress has called for a rally on the occasion of Martyrs' Day on July 21 in Kolkata.The police are being used to increase the crowd there.
Alleging this, CPIM protested at the New Township Police Station. A delegation led by Pankaj Roy Sarkar, member of the CPIM West Burdwan District Secretariat, submitted a complaint letter to the police officials.Immediately the guilty policemen demanded punishment. The incident started when the local CPIM leader Surbhi Ghosh got a call from the police station asking if she was coming on July 21, after which he came to know how many people she was going to the Kolkata rally with.
After that, the CPIM leadership went to the police station with strong anger. They complained that the police administration was being used to fill the rally, they demanded immediate punishment of the guilty police personnel.
In front of the journalists, Pankaj Roy said that the government is doing the work of the organization with the police in the whole of Bengal. There was pressure to change the party and now the pressure is being created to take it to the rally.
If this kind of undemocratic process is not stopped immediately, there will be an indefinite siege or complain to high court. Today, a written complaint has been submitted along with the phone number of the accused. Of course, the police administration has assured a proper investigation.
