The central agency has been quick in the coal smuggling case. Last Friday, ED questioned Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the coal case. Earlier, ED had sent a notice to Malay in this case. But the Asansol North MLA has evaded the summons that time. He got a call from ED again.
Detectives of the Central Bureau of Investigation went to Malloy's official residence in Dalhousie around 8 am on Wednesday. Before that, however, the CBI started a search operation at five more houses of Malaya in Asansol and Kolkata.
A search was also conducted at the house of a close relative of the minister in Alipur area. Central investigators later went to the minister's official residence at Dalhousie Square next to the Raj Bhavan and interrogated him. They left there around 4:30 pm. Around the same time, the CBI also came out of Malay's ancestral home in Asansol.
