The 'Rohith Vemula Act' is a piece of special legislation that Congress has committed to introducing in order to address the issue of prejudice that marginalised students suffer while attending educational institutions. Research scholar Rohith Vemula was a member of the Dalit community at the University of Hyderabad in India. He committed suicide in the year 2016. His killing provoked extensive demonstrations and debates on problems relating to discrimination based on caste and how Dalit pupils are treated in schools.
