Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, has been suspended from competition for two years due to an anti-doping violation.
Sources report that the violation is due to her failure to update her whereabouts on the ADAMS system . Her suspension dates back to the second half of 2021, and is the same time period as her two-year ban for an earlier anti-doping violation .
The International Testing Agency (ITA) also confirmed on Friday that Dipa Karmakar has been suspended for a 21-month period, effective immediately . This means that Dipa will be unable to compete in any gymnastics competitions until 10 July 2023.
